Iannis Smaragdis has produced yet another fine series: its first episode acted as a kind of purge from all the toxic substances that afflict our television.
Maria Papadopoulou, Ta Nea, 20 February 1990

The works of the great Greek poets blend with the landscapes in a quite magical manner as we watch and as our ears are delighted. The combination of image and words is fascinating; it takes us travelling and relaxes us to the point where, after the programme with our hearts full of beauty, we feel ourselves to be better human beings. The work of Iannis Smaragdis as director, of Nikos Smaragdis as cinematographer, of Eleni Karaindrou as composer, and the recitations and the readings, not to mention the selection of the texts, blend admirably to produce quite a new work of art.
